About the Antigua Guatemala day tour
Antigua Guatemala is one of the most fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Central America. Founded in 1543 as the third Spanish capital of the region, it survived countless earthquakes and was restored, and today its convents, churches and cobblestone streets look almost as they did centuries ago, watched over by Agua volcano.
Cerro de la Cruz
We start at the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, with a panoramic view of every convent, church and square of the city, and Agua volcano behind.
Walking tour
Then a certified local guide walks with us through the central square and the Cathedral of San José, the San Francisco church, the famous Santa Catalina Arch and La Merced, an ultra-baroque church with the largest colonial fountain in the Americas. We also stop at the Jade House and the Chocolate Museum.
Lunch and free time
After lunch (not included) you have free time for craft shops, cafés and ice cream before the drive back to El Salvador.
