Description

Mangrove tour El Salvador. Mangrove forests are one of the most threatened forest worldwide. They are the place and home of hundreds of different species including birds, mollusks, fish, reptiles and mammals. El Salvador has one of the largest mangrove forest extensions in Central America. We will sail on the channels of La Barra de Santiago. A mangrove area that feeds on fresh water from the El Imposible national park.

This is the ideal place to live incredible experiences in contact with nature and at the same time help local communities. “La Barra de Santiago”, where its almost 2000 hectares of seven mangrove species, are the perfect place to find wildlife and where many native and migratory birds nest.

One of the attractions of this mangrove tour is the sighting of crocodiles in their natural habitat. You can observe them safely from inside the boat. Essential predators for ecosystem balance.

We will know an impressive bird sanctuary, we will witness the variety of species that inhabit this ecosystem. Here you can see some migratory birds such as the pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis), the blue heron (Florida caerulea), the white heron (Egretta alba), and the kingfisher (Alcedo atthis).

The Barra de Santiago is inhabited by a population of fishermen struggling to make a living in a rural area full of natural wealth. Taking a mangrove tour here is ideal to support the local community.
